Managed antivirus / endpoint protection

Security software on every computer that blocks and removes malicious programs, installed and kept up to date for you.

What it is

Antivirus, sometimes called endpoint protection, is software that watches each computer, laptop, and server for malicious programs such as viruses, spyware, and ransomware. When it spots something dangerous, it blocks it or removes it.

"Managed" means we install it, configure it, keep it updated, and follow its alerts. It does not depend on each employee remembering to switch it on or accept updates.

Why it matters for small and midsize businesses

Small businesses are not too small to be targeted. Attackers use automated tools that look for any unprotected computer, and one infected laptop can lock up files or give an attacker a way into the whole network.

Antivirus that nobody manages tends to go stale. Subscriptions lapse, it gets turned off to fix a slowdown, or it is never installed on a new machine. Managing it centrally gives you one consistent baseline and a report of which devices are protected.

Where it fits

Fundamentals also includes:

  • Managed antivirus / endpoint protection Security software on every computer that blocks and removes malicious programs, installed and kept up to date for you.
  • Automated patching Operating system and application updates installed on a schedule, so known security holes get closed without relying on anyone to click update.
  • Backup and recovery Regular, verified copies of your important data, stored apart from your office systems so you can get back to work after a failure, theft, or ransomware.
  • Continuous infrastructure monitoring Automated checks on your computers, servers, and network equipment that raise alerts when something fails, runs low, or looks wrong.
